Faith Club
March 2026
As we approach Holy Week, our Year 2 Faith Club children led a beautiful and reflective celebration of the Stations of the Cross at St John Fisher Catholic Church. With confidence and reverence, the children guided the service through each station, sharing prayers, readings, and thoughtful reflections. They demonstrated remarkable responsibility, maturity, and a deep understanding of this important Lenten tradition. A special word of thanks to Fr Francis for his support and encouragement, which helped make this meaningful experience possible. We would also like to thank our Catholic Life Ambassadors, who continue to be excellent role models of our faith, inspiring others through their commitment and example. We are incredibly proud of all the children for representing our school community so wonderfully and for living out our faith in such an inspiring way

Our Faith Club met today during the fourth Sunday of Lent. Together we reflected on the readings and focused on the theme of joy and God’s mercy as we continue our Lentern journey. We also looked ahead to Palm Sunday and took part in an activity thinking about how the people welcomed Jesus into Jerusalem. The group reflected on how we can welcome Jesus into our own lives today through kindness, prayer and the choices we make each day. A special “thank you” to our wonderful Catholic Life Ambassadors who showed themselves to be excellent role models for the younger members of our school community.

During the third week of Lent, Faith Club gathered for another meaningful and engaging session. Linked to Sundays Gospel reading (John 4:5-42), the focus was on ‘abstaining’. We talked about how, during Lent, Christians sometimes abstain from things. This means choosing to give something up for a while to help us think more about God and how we treat others. The children shared ideas of things they could abstain from, such as sweets, too much screen time, or making the wrong choice. By making these small sacrifices, we remember Jesus’ love and try to fill our hearts with kindness, patience and care for the people around us. Thank you to our Catholic Life Ambassadors who showed themselves to be excellent role models for the younger members of our school community.

During the second week of Lent, Year 2 Faith Club gathered for another meaningful and engaging session. This week’s focus was on ‘forgiveness’, as the children explored why it is important to say sorry, to forgive others, and to show kindness even when it can feel difficult. Through thoughtful discussion and reflection, they considered how forgiveness helps us to grow and strengthen our relationship with others. St Paul’s letter to the Ephesians 4:32 “Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you”. The children reflected on what this means in their own lives and how they can follow Jesus’ example by forgiving others with a loving and generous heart As part of the session, they also decorated a special candle symbolising Jesus as the Light of the World reminding them that His light guides us to choose kindness, compassion and forgiveness each day A special thank you to our Catholic Life Ambassadors who showed themselves to be excellent role models for the younger members of our school community.

Today our Year 2 children enjoyed attending their very first Faith Club session. As we begin our Lenten journey and look ahead to the joyful Season of Easter, the children took time to reflect on what this special time in the church’s year means and how they can grow in kindness, prayer and helping others. They shared thoughtful ideas about making good choices and supporting one another, and showed great enthusiasm and respect throughout the session. They joined in actively through song and prayer, making it a wonderful start to our time together. A special thank you to our Catholic Life Ambassadors who showed themselves to be excellent role models for the younger members of our school community through their leadership and kindness to living out their faith.

Today, 27 Year 2 children, who are part of Faith Club, had the wonderful opportunity to visit St John Fisher church to lead the Stations of the Cross. As we draw nearer to Easter, this experience allowed the children to reflect on the journey of Jesus in a meaningful way. They walked through each station, contemplating the significance of each moment. It truly was a time of quiet reflection and spiritual growth, helping our children deepen their understanding of our faith. The children were respectful and engaged, making it a beautiful moment for all as we prepare for the celebration of Easter. Thank you to our Catholic Life Ambassadors for accompanying us today and for being excellent ambassadors of our faith to the younger members of our school community. Thank you to, to the parents who joined us.

Continuing their Lenten journey, in Faith Club today, the children focussed on ‘forgiveness’, recognising that, although we can feel sad when we think about what we get wrong, it’s good to know that we can turn to God, and say sorry. He forgives us always. The children coloured in rose petals as a sign of forgiveness. Thank you to the CLA for being excellent ambassadors of our faith, especially to the younger children of our school community.

In Faith Club this week, the children began their Lenten journey starting today, on Ash Wednesday. This reminded the children of Jesus’ temptation in the desert. We also discussed how we can draw closer to God this Lent. They enjoyed decorating candles, symbolising Jesus as the light of the world.

During the Season of Lent, Year 2 pupils have an opportunity to attend Faith Club. The children come together to pray, sing songs and to take part in fun activities to remind us of the sacrifices Jesus made for us. It is also a time for us to think about our own Lenten journey. We are also very fortunate to have our Catholic Life Ambassadors.

In addition, during this Season of Lent, Year 2 children have participated in Faith Club. Today, together with Mrs Courtney and Mrs Hanrahan, they led The Stations of the Cross at St John Fisher Church. Thank you to the Catholic Life Ambassadors for helping today. They were such good role models, leading by example. This provided the children with an opportunity to reflect on Jesus’ death and the sacrifice He made for us. This truly was a prayerful experience!
