May 2026

Over the last week, Year 3 have had an amazing school trip to the Children’s Open Air Museum to bring their Stone Age, Bronze Age and Iron Age learning to life! They explored an Iron Age roundhouse, made butter and clay pots, threw atlatl arrows, built shelters, created cave art and learnt how people survived in the Stone Age by making fire

The children learnt so many amazing facts and had a fantastic day of hands-on history!

May 2026

In History this week, Year 3 became archaeologists as they investigated artefacts from a Bronze Age mans burial site. Using clues from the objects discovered, the children worked together to uncover that the man was the famous Amesbury Archer! Fantastic historical thinking and teamwork from Year 3!

January 2026

Year 3 delved into their new History topic: ‘The Ancient Maya’ - with an exciting first lesson!

Pupils became history detectives, going on a hunt around the classroom and the Year 3 corridor to uncover clues. Each clue revealed the advantages and challenges of the Maya settling in the rainforest, from rich natural resources to tricky terrain and climate. A brilliant start to our journey back in time!
