In RE and Celebration of the Word, our children continue to learn about the feast of Epiphany.

November 2024

In RE lessons and Celebration of the Word this week, children have discussed and designed symbols that represent Mary as the Mother of God, continued to learn about and the sacrament of baptism and as we prepare for the Season of Advent which begins this Sunday 1st December, the children made their Advent promise.

In RE and Celebration of the Word this week, children have led their own Celebration of the Word on the parable that Jesus told ‘The Good Samaritan’ (Luke 10-25:37) reminding us that we should love everyone. Reception children have been learning about helping those who are poor and in need. They also talked about the story of The Good Samaritan and how we can help those around us.

November 2024

This week in RE and Celebration of the Word, we focused on the Catholic Social Teaching Principle ‘Preferential Option for the Poor’, thinking about ways in which we can help those in need. We listened to the parable of The Widow’s Mite (Luke 21:1-4) and reflected on how we could help others. Children have also prayed for those who have lost their lives in war. Reception children have learnt about the sacrament of Baptism.

In RE and Celebration of the word this week, the whole school focus is other world faiths. Children in Reception - Year 4 have been learning about Hinduism and in Years 5-6 about Sikhism. Some children kindly shared artefacts from home.

Children have also reflected on All Saints and All Souls days which we celebrated in Mass last week.

In RE and Celebration of the Word this week, Catholic life Ambassadors have led prayers with Year 1. Year 3 have continued to learn about the rosary, and Mrs Pignatiello was invited to worship with Year 1. In Reception children have read the story of Noah’s Ark.

In RE/Celebration of the Word this week, we welcomed our Reception children into our family. Children have continued to learn and meditate on the rosary and have been reflecting on how they can live by Jesus’ example.

In addition, the Catholic Life Ambassadors led Celebration of the Word with Year 1 today. It was a lovely way of coming together as a community to pray.

October 2024

In RE and Celebration of the Word this week, children have reflected on the feast of St Therese of Lisieux, they have also learnt about the Jewish festival of Rosh Hashanah. The Catholic Life Ambassadors have been very busy planning for the design and use of the new prayer space and Father Graham has visited to bless all the classrooms, asking for God's blessings for the year ahead.
