National Quiz Club Maths Championship
June 2026
On Monday 29th June, four Key Stage 2 pupils proudly represented the school in the Quiz Club National Maths Championship Final at the University of Oxford.
The children had already competed in the Area Heat and then the Semi-Final to reach this stage, performing brilliantly along the way and blowing us away with their mathematical knowledge and the speed of their calculations.
In the Final, the level of challenge was understandably raised again, and they competed against over 30 schools from around the country , facing three rounds of increasingly complex mathematical problems to solve.
They worked superbly as a team and kept battling throughout, once again demonstrating the knowledge and skill that had earned them their place in the final. Although we ended the first round in second place, a top 3 finish was unfortunately not to be this time, but we could not be prouder of all that they achieved!!
Well done, team!
March 2026
Quiz Club National Maths Championship Semi-Final: On Tuesday 3rd March, our St John Fisher team, comprising three Y6 and one Y5 pupil, competed in the ‘Quiz Club National Maths Championship Semi-Final’, having successfully made it through their area heat last month.
They faced further challenging mathematical problems and stiff opposition (with 126 other teams from around the country in their semi-final alone) but we’re absolutely delighted to share some fantastic news with you — our pupils have successfully progressed to the National Maths Finals at the Examination Schools of Oxford University.
We could not be prouder of their hard work, resilience and mathematical talent in reaching this stage of the competition. Well done all!
