This week, Year 2 took their learning beyond the supermarket shelves and into our local woodland
We explored which parts of plants we eat , discovering that we enjoy the stem of rhubarb , seeds from peas , flowers like cauliflower , and even roots like potatoes !
Along the way we spotted wildflowers , smelt garlic mustard leaf , explored sticky cleavers , and identified trees including hawthorn, elder, oak, holly and elm.
A real highlight was discovering a coal tit family in our bird box ! We quietly observed them bringing food back and forth , and agreed to give them space as they prepare for their chicks
A wonderful session full of curiosity , nature and hands-on learning.

Yesterday, Year 2 met Ranger Stu who helped them learn about minibeasts and their habitats. They learnt about six incredible creatures and even got to hold some of them. They were all incredibly brave when we met Coconut the tarantula. We can’t wait to learn more during our new Science topic.
