On Saturday 10th October, Year 6 took part in the first tournament of the year, the Barnet FC Cup, at The Hive. We played our first match against St Joseph’s. We kept the ball in their half for most of the match but failed to get past their hard-working defence. Thanks to several great saves by our keeper, the match finished 0-0, and it was a sign of greater things to come. In our second match against Cannon Lane, we managed to win 1-0, courtesy of a great goal from Sope. Our next match was against West Lodge, the six time winners, who managed to score 2 goals, and unfortunately we couldn’t get past their strong defenders. In our final match against St Bernadette’s, Aadi and Olivia saved the day by firing two rockets past the goalkeeper. Thankfully, we managed to keep a clean sheet and therefore win 2-0, our best result of the tournament. In the end, we got 2nd place, which was an especially good result considering it was our first time entering the tournament, and we even got a silver medal! Thanks to Mr Levison, Miss Betts and Mr Mullens, who helped train the team for the tournament. We would also like to thank Miss Lucas for coaching us, and Miss O’Sullivan, Monty, Michael, Sophia and Amelia and all the parents and family members who came to support us. Finally, well done to Shane, Fabio, Curtis, Sope, Aadi, Olivia, Maame, Conor H and Tom B (Player of the Day).
