Year 6 Girls Football Tournament
On Wednesday 5th May 2021, the Year 6 girl’s football team went to The Hive and took part in a football tournament. The captains, Kate and Olivia, led their team to an all round victory.
The team was made up of ten girls: Irene, Claire, Amelia. P, Millie, Ednah, Lara, Maame, Sophia, Kate and Olivia.
The first game was against Roxeth School. In the first half, Sophia ran rapidly up the wing, dribbled past two defenders and scored through the keeper’s legs! The next goal was delivered by Olivia who took a corner which hit off a Roxeth player and went in at the far post. Olivia then scored two more goals from outside the box, which won us the first match by a score of 4-0.
Game 2 was against West Lodge School. The first goal was an amazing play from Sophia to Olivia, who placed it in the bottom left corner. Kate scored the next goal with a chip from outside the box. Yet again, Olivia scored from close range. The final score was 3-0.
The next match was against Pinner Wood. Sophia scored a lucky close range goal. Kate then played the ball all the way to the other side of the pitch, which found Olivia who scored. The final score was 2-0.
St Bernadette’s defence held SJF back. Luckily, Irene made three lifesaving saves. The final score was 0-0.
Our final game was against Cedars Manor. In this game Olivia scored a whopping three goals. The final score was 3-0.
Thanks to Miss Betts, Miss Lucas, Mr Levison and Mr Betts, St John Fisher won!
