National Storytelling Week

February 2026

Thank you to all the parents who have continued to come in to read to their child’s class so far this week - National Storytelling Week. Your time and enthusiasm helped promote a real love of reading for pleasure and made the experience extra special for the children. We truly appreciate your support in helping to inspire young readers! The children also loved spending time reading a book of their own choice, making the experience even more enjoyable and personal for them.

What a brilliant way to end our National Storytelling Week! As part of the National Year of Reading, we were thrilled to welcome author Gareth P.Jones to our school. He inspired all of the children with his fantastic books, storytelling and songs. His visit fit perfectly with the theme ‘Soundtrack your Story’ and left everyone buzzing with ideas.

Year 4 and Year 2 read stories together today #NationalStorytellingWeek

February 2026

As part of this year’s National Storytelling Week, themed ‘Soundtrack Your Story’, Year 1 children took part in a fantastic live storytelling workshop with musician and author Annemarie Anang. Through music and rhythm, the workshop inspired a love of story creation, as the children listened to the story ‘Nefertiti’ and used it as inspiration to create their own musical stories. It was a joyful, creative experience and the children had so much fun!
