Routes into Languages Primary Bee Final

June 2026

On Monday, Year 6 pupils represented the school in the French ‘Routes into Languages Primary Bee Final’ at the University of Cambridge.

The 92 pupils taking part across the French , Spanish and German finals (40 of whom were in the French Final ) had made it through to this stage from over 2,000 pupils – a fantastic achievement!

The daunting final involved each child standing in front of a crowd in a lecture theatre and translating as many given words and phrases as they could from English to French in just one minute . Despite the intensity, the girls showed great linguistic skill , confidence and bravery , and performed brilliantly!

We were then delighted to find out that one of our pupils had successfully made it through to the Grand Final , one of just four pupils across the whole French competition!

She performed amazingly once again in a nail-biting competition , only to find out there was a tie-break and she had to take part in a further round! She once again blew us away with her speed and knowledge and was placed third in the whole competition!

All three girls represented the school brilliantly throughout the day and we’re so proud of them!
