OPAL
OPAL (Outdoor Play and Learning)
This summer, we began our OPAL (Outdoor Play and Learning) journey. We want to improve opportunities for physical activity, socialisation, cooperation, coordination, resilience, creativity, imagination and enjoyment through improved play.
Staff met with OPAL advisor Neil and were trained about the importance of play. Staff were enthused to get the OPAL journey started so we sent out a letter to parents to share this new adventure, and a wish list of things we needed.
Since those initial meetings, we have introduced lots of new items at lunchtime for children to engage in.
We spoke to all classes and created a wish list which is on display in the KS2 playground. New things are being added frequently.
Here we share some pictures of our exciting playtimes.
We are just at the beginning of our Outdoor Play and Learning adventure and cannot wait to see the positive benefits of all our play.

The next phase of our Opal Play has been launched. Tyres and mud kitchens, so much fun!
