Reception couldn’t read Oliver’s Vegetables without making and drinking their own vegetable soup.

This week we read the story Oliver’s Vegetables. The children had lots of fun making self-portraits using a variety of fruits and vegetables developing their creativity and fine motor skills.
In literacy, the children wrote simple sentences about the story and learned how to write instructions for making soup using the words first, next, and finally.
In maths, we focused on doubling numbers through fun activities and games.

Reception
Linked to The Enormous Turnip, the children sequenced the story and drew pictures of the turnip using crayons and pastels. They explored observational drawing and used templates where appropriate. In their literacy books, the children wrote sentences explaining how to plant a seed.

Reception children have spent the first day back learning about all things Jack in the Beanstalk.

Another busy Monday in Reception. This week the Literacy focus is Jack and the Beanstalk, writing the story, creating beanstalks, in addition to practicing number work- Well done children such amazing progress since September!!

This week, Reception children’s traditional tale is Goldilocks and the three Bears. Role play, writing, mathematics and oodles of creativity.

Our Reception children are loving their new Traditional Tales topic , starting with the much-loved Gingerbread Man! They’ve enjoyed listening to the story, joining in with repeated phrases and making their own gingerbread men. A fun and exciting start to our new topic.
