Forest School

July 2024

Year 4 enjoyed a fantastic final Forest School session in the glorious sunshine. They had the opportunity to work safely in pairs to light a fire and also had the chance to weave their own lovely creations as a keepsake, all topped off by the highlight of the session for many: eating the marshmallows they had toasted on the fire! Thanks again to Wild Brambles for a super half term of outside learning!

Year 4 continued their Forest School adventure. Todays focus was on making habitats for hedgehogs and squirrels.

June 2024

Today in Forest School, Year 4 continued with their theme of Habitats - with a focus on one of the four main requirements for survival - food and food chains. Making nests for mummy bird and her 10 chicks… each team tried to keep the chicks safe from predators and well fed with yummy worms. Some bird parents were lucky to avoid the toxic worms and keep some of their chicks alive.

Year 4 continued with their Forest School sessions today. They built habitats with natural materials and created leaf and bark rubbings.

June 2024

This half term, Year 4 children are going to be taking part in weekly Forest School Sessions with Wild Brambles. In todays first session they were inducted into Forest School and their topic Habitats. They learnt what animals look for in a habitat: safety; access to food and drink; space and safety for their young; somewhere the correct temperature for them. They explored some different habitats for different animals (eg: a burrow for rabbits, a drey for squirrels) and thought about the ways in which they met those four needs.
