In RE, Year 1 had a wonderful time today retelling the story of the Annunciation (Luke 1:26-38) through Godly Play. The children listened beautifully, explored the story with curiosity, and shared thoughtful questions as they recreated this special moment in the Christmas story.

In RE, Reception children continue to learn about the journey to Jesus’ birth and wrote their individual Advent promises.

As we approach the Season of Advent which begins on Sunday 30th November, in RE today, Year 1 reflected on the true meaning of Advent and took time to write their own Advent promises. Each promise shows their thoughtful ideas about kindness, patience, and helping others as we prepare for Christmas.

In today’s RE lesson, the Reception children learned about the Nativity story and how Jesus was born in a stable. They drew lovely pictures of baby Jesus and used a range of adjectives to describe him, helping to develop both their vocabulary and understanding of the story.

The children also drew the animals that might have been present in the stable that night . To extend their learning through play, they worked together to build their own stables using construction blocks.

Year 1s current topic in RE is ‘Prophecy & Promise’. In Year 1, the children have begun exploring stories from St Luke’s Gospel, and this week they especially enjoyed discovering some fascinating facts about St Luke himself. Did you know St Luke’s symbol is an Ox ? It’s been wonderful to see their curiosity grow as they learn more about the people and stories that shape our faith journey.

In RE, our Reception children learnt all about Mary and Joseph’s journey to Bethlehem The children loved drawing their own maps to show the journey Such wonderful learning and creativity from our little stars!

Today in RE, Reception children learnt how important it was that Mary said ‘yes’ to God.

In RE, the children were learning that God chose Mary. They made beautiful angel wings , crafted their own angels , and wrote a special message.

In RE, the children in Reception have also been learning how to care for the bodies that God gave them and others.

Our Reception children have been learning all about the Sacrament of Baptism. They’ve loved role-playing the special rituals and even building their own church. Such wonderful hands-on learning as they explore the traditions and understanding of belonging.

Today in RE, the children deepened their understanding of what it means to be stewards of God’s creation . As part of our topic on Creation, they learnt about Laudato Si’, Pope Francis’ letter that reminds us of our responsibility to care for the Earth - our common home . We talked about how we can look after the world around us, not just for ourselves, but for future generations too .

To put their learning into action, the children took part in a litter pick . Equipped with bags and litter pickers, they helped clean up our local area, showing love and respect for God’s creation . It was a wonderful opportunity for the children to live out their faith through action and reflect on the difference they can make in the world, no matter how small.

This afternoon, our Year 6 pupils had a wonderful visit from Fr Francis, who spoke to them all about the sacrament of Baptism. He was friendly, funny, and full of wisdom - and the children were completely engaged! They asked some truly amazing questions and loved every moment of the session. We’re so grateful to Fr Francis for spending time with us, and we can’t wait to welcome him back soon!

Today in RE, Reception children learned about their special gift from God - our families. They discussed the differences and similarities and discovered that every family is unique, which makes them special. They drew their families in their RE books and labelled the family members.

RE – God’s Creation and Our Responsibility

In RE, the children in Year 1 have been learning about the story of creation in the Bible . They reflected on how God created the world in seven days and the beauty of His gifts – light, land, plants, animals, and people. To experience this first-hand, they went on a walk to Woodlands . Using magnifying glasses and telescopes , the children spotted the wonders of God’s creation: colourful plants , fascinating animals , and the warmth of the sunlight . Together, we discussed how each part of creation links to the days in the story, and how we are called to be stewards - caring for and protecting God’s world.

They have planted a seed in recycled yoghurt pots to make Gods world more green and have been role playing caring for Gods animals. They’ve also been drawing and talking about how they can care for our world!
