4 Newton’s trip to Pinner Library . The children had so much fun looking for fiction books by a variety of authors and using the Dewey decimal system to look for non-fiction books.

4H enjoyed a great visit to Pinner Library today They listened attentively to the librarian read a story set by a volcano , linking to their current Geography topic , and demonstrated all of the fantastic knowledge they have gleaned so far about earthquakes and volcanoes when answering the questions they were posed .
Then, they worked in pairs and small groups to locate the fiction and non-fiction books on their challenge sheets. Whilst doing this, they were reminded that fiction books are organised alphabetically by the author’s surname and that non-fiction is organised by subject, using the Dewey Decimal System .
It was wonderful to see their curiosity and enjoyment of books shining out!
