Forest School
April 2025
Year 1 beamed with excitement today as they embarked on their final forest school session, searching for hidden egg cards nestled around the school. The session offered a rich experience, filled with laughter and discovery, as they gathered around the crackling fire afterward, toasting marshmallows, to celebrate their adventures this term.

At forest school this week, the children used recycled milk bottles to create bird feeders for our Awe & Wonder Garden and tin cans for bug hotels .They also created some wild flower paper models which will soon grow some beautiful flowers.

In Forest School, Year 1 children began the session by recapping on their prior knowledge to recall what plants need to survive. They used Hapazome; a Japanese art form, of eco-printing that involved transferring coloured pigments from plant materials onto fabric by using a mallet and made a bookmark.

In Forest school today, Year 1 children created seed bombs from soil, flour and wild flower seeds; cards with natural materials (broccoli) and scattering seed bombs in the local area to encourage flowers to grow.

This week in Forest School, Year 1 have looked at how they can help and protect wild animals. They built dens from sticks and made their own hedgehogs from clay and sticks.
February 2025
Year 1 children started their Forest School journey today. They took part in litter picking and investigated the roots on plants whilst digging in the vegetable patch. The canopy provided shelter from the rain by the warmth of campfire.
