  • Update Covid-19

    Wed 18 Mar 2020

    Dear Parents/Carers,

Unfortunately, several members of staff are now self-isolating as a precaution for personal reasons. This obviously has an impact on the teaching and learning for pupils. We are doing our very best to cover all classes, although some are being amalgamated. Today, Reception pupils are working as two classes and it is anticipated that from tomorrow, Year 3 pupils will be working as two classes.

I hope that I do not have to enforce partial closure, although this may be a real possibility.

We are in constant communication with the CEO of the Trust and the other schools in the Trust to ensure we can give the best education possible for as long as we can.

May we all turn to God and His words during times of adversity for strength and comfort. When we put our faith in him, he will help guide us to the path of happiness and peace.

Thank you for your continued support,

    Maria Conlon

  • Update Covid-19

    Tue 17 Mar 2020

    Dear Parents and Carers,

Following the Prime Minister’s briefing yesterday afternoon, it is important that we share with you the changes in the Government’s advice concerning Coronavirus.

    First and foremost:

If your child or any other person in your household has a persistent cough or fever, everyone living in your household must stay at home for 14 days.

Please do not send your child into school any earlier than the recommended period of isolation.

We are fully aware of the (understandably) high levels of anxiety. For this reason, wewould suggest that if you are in any doubt and are concerned about the health and well-being of your child or your familystay off school. It is important that you keep the school office informed of any absence.

Please be advised that there will be no Rosary on Friday morning. A & J Soccer and MAD have both been cancelled for the foreseeable future.

    Parents on the playground

To minimise contact, please avoid remaining on the playground before and after school. As soon as your child is dismissed, exit the premises as quickly as possible.

    Office

Please do not come to the school office unless it is absolutely necessary; email any queries or telephone directly. You will receive regular updates by email and school website.

Should the school be closed, staff are working extremely hard to prepare activities that can be accessed from home. You will be signposted to appropriate websites via dBprimary. All pupils will receive some hard copies in addition to online learning.

Thank you for your continued support.

    Yours sincerely,

    Maria Conlon

  • Coronavirus Update

    Mon 16 Mar 2020

    16th March 2020

    Dear Parents/Carers,

                                                                      Re: Coronavirus

As announced by the Prime Minister, there will NOT be a blanket closure of schools at the moment.

However, some very clear advice has been issued:

If your child shows symptoms of Coronavirus (persistent cough and/or high temperature) they are to stay at home for SEVEN days. Please inform the school if your child is self-isolating.

    Information website as follows:

    •             www.gov.uk/coronavirus

    •             www.nhs.uk/coronavirus

    •             https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/guidance-to-educational-settings-about-covid-19

At St. John Fisher Catholic Primary School, we are working through a staged and sensible risk assessment. The following measures will be implemented from Tuesday 17th March:

    • Additional cleaning program (in place)
    • Handwashing at regular intervals throughout the day (in place)
    • We will send children home for seven days if they are showing symptoms
    • We will use screening measures (thermometer) if we are worried about a high temperature
    • No large school gatherings e.g. school assemblies, Year 4 Easter Assemblies, 3R Assembly, Liturgies and Masses this side of the Easter holiday
    • Internal reorganisation of seating arrangements at lunchtime
    • All parent workshops/meetings will be cancelled this side of the Easter holiday:

           Spec Meeting 19.03.2020

                  RSE Meeting 20.03.2020

                  Nurturing Programme Thursday mornings

                  Cork Exchange meeting 27.03.2020

                  Easter Tea Afternoon 27.03.2020

                  MAD show 25.03.2020

    • All trips are cancelled including Year 6 swimming, String Festival (Yr. 6 Osmington Bay still under review)
    • We are asking parent volunteers not to come into school for the foreseeable future. This is to limit contact as far as possible. We appreciate the support you give to the school and look forward to welcoming you back into school in the future.

We are taking the following measure to delay the spread of the virus and hope that parents support and understand why we are having to do this given this circumstance is unprecedented and very serious.

Thank you for your continued support,

    Yours sincerely,
