In forest school this week, the focus book for Reception children was Town mouse country mouse - they learnt about different animals and their houses, went on an challenge adventure, made houses of sticks, stones, feathers and straw, created mice out of play-dough, sawed wood and had a competition in winding string around a stick

Today in Forest School, Reception children enjoyed making and eating Porridge warmed up on the cosy fire.

They also made bird feeders that they will take home to place in their gardens and local areas, as well as beds for the bears using materials and boats for Goldilocks.

Today, Reception children enjoyed their first forest school session with Wild Brambles.

Their topic this half term is traditional tales. The children enjoyed singing songs, discussing health and safety rules, using sign language, playing games e.g. ‘what’s the time Mr Fox?’, acting out characters from the story ‘The Gingerbread Man’, going on a gingerbread man hunt, finding footprints of a fox, making a gingerbread man out of mud and natural resources (seeds, shells, stones, leaves, sticks ), crossing a bridge, making a bridge for the gingerbread man and making pretend fire.

They had an amazing time and can’t wait for next week!

Week 2 of Forest School with Wild Brambles for our Reception children. This week they have been exploring the story of the Three Little Pigs They made houses of straw, sticks and bricks, went on a hunt for pigs, played hide and seek and made a fire.
