QPR v Cardiff City

Last Wednesday, we had our coaching session with QPR in preparation for the Regional Finals which took place on Monday. After the session, Gavin gifted all of us two tickets to attend the QPR v Cardiff City game at the Kiyan Prince Stadium on Saturday. It was a great experience and we had amazing seats right behind the goal! It was an excellent atmosphere and it was great to spend time together as team. Thank you to Gavin Forbes and QPR for giving us this opportunity.

Watford Premier League Primary Stars

On Thursday, a group of Year 3 and 4 boys took part in Watford’s Premier League Primary Stars Tournament at the Meriden Community Centre in Watford. All of the team were extremely excited, and a little nervous, as it was the first time they had represented the school. The first game against Grange ended in a 6-0 victory with goals from James (2), Kian (2), Kymarni, and Paddy. The second game, against St Paul’s, ended in a 2-0 defeat, although the boys showed great skill and determination throughout. The third game, against The Grove, ended in a convincing victory with goals from Paddy (2), Louie and Isacco. Our fourth game was the toughest of the day and ended in a 2-1 defeat. Their goalkeeper made a last minute, fingertip save which stopped us getting any points. However the team were determined to finish the tournament on a high and the final game of the day, against Parkside, ended with our biggest victory (8-0) with goals from: Paddy (2), Kian (2), Kymarni (2) and James (2). We finished in 3rd place, which was a fantastic achievement for the team. Well done to all of the players who took part: Kian (Captain), Adam, Miguel, James, Szymon, Kymarni, Paddy, Isacco, Louie and Ethan.  A special well done to Kymarni, who was chosen by Watford FC coaches as overall player of the tournament and Paddy who finished the day as top goal scorer. Well done boys, we are all very proud!

Barnet FC Cup

On Wednesday, 10 Year 6 boys took part in the Barnet FC Cup at The Hive. It was a cold, windy and a very wet day but that did not dampen anyone’s spirits! The day began with a 0-0 draw against Kenmore Park, after their keeper made some amazing saves from Leo’s deadly long range shots! The second game against Marlborough ended 3-0, with an excellent hatrick from Leo. The third game against St Anselm’s was closely fought, but again ended 0-0 with the keeper having the game of his life! We found our momentum in the fourth game against Heathland and won 4-0 with goals from Leo, Jacob, Louis and Sean. Our fifth game, against Priestmead, resulted in our biggest win of the day (5-0) with goals from Leo (2), Jake (2) and James an. We ended the day with a game against St Bernadette’s, who had won their previous five games. We went in with confidence and played our best game of the day and we won 3-0 with goals from Leo and Jake (2). It was a fantastic day and we finished as runners up by only one point, meaning we have qualified for the Barnet Cup Final! Well done to everyone who took part: Ronan (Captain), Leo, James, Kyan, Louis, Jake, Adam, Jacob and Ben, who managed to keep six clean sheets! A special well done to Jake who was chosen as player of the day and Leo who finished as top goal scorer. Thank you to Mr Betts for driving us, Mrs Kershaw for supporting us and to the parents who braved the torrential hail and rain to cheer us on!
