Year 4 children travelled to The Criterion Theatre in Piccadilly Circus to take part in the Verse vs Verse Poetry Slam. The children had performed their own poems in front of their parents at school and two groups were selected to perform on stage in front of other London schools. During this year the children have been taking part in workshops with Verse vs Verse to support their creative literacy. The two groups performed their poems with great confidence and thoroughly enjoyed being on a big stage in such a beautiful theatre. The children were also given the opportunity to watch several other schools and some professional poets perform their work.
We would like to thank Verse vs Verse for offering this wonderful opportunity to our children and look forward to continuing to work closely next year. Staff and children enjoyed this treat at the end of a busy year.
Many thanks to parents and staff who travelled with the children into London. A big thank you to Mrs Hinds for her hard work in promoting this arts initiative.
