On Tuesday 9th October, we played our first football league match against West Lodge. As the football club hadn’t started yet, we gave up our lunchtimes on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays to train and prepare for the big game. When the day finally arrived, we were all excited but a little bit nervous but we knew we had the potential and determination to win the game. We left school feeling confident, especially since we were wearing the brand new football kit. We started the game extremely well and all of us held our positions as Mr O’Brien had told us to. A couple of minutes into the game, Jayden fired one of his powerful strikes and we were 1-0 up. Confidence was high and we kept the pressure on and Jayden scored again before the end of the second half. West Lodge continued to play well in the second half and put more pressure on us. However our defence was solid and eventually Loucas scored a great goal and we were 3-0 up! In one of the last kicks of the game West Lodge finally broke us down and scored, making the final score 3-1. Well done to all of the team: Dylan, Ronan, Joe, James, Jayden, Ronan, Loucas, Aaron, Max, Michael and Daniel. Thank you to Miss Lucas and Mr O’Brien for coaching us to victory, Mr Betts for driving us there and to Mr Sherriff and the parents for supporting us. We are really looking forward to our next game.
