For several weeks the children in Year 5 have been working with Aylward School to prepare for a professional operatic performance of Maria Stuarda. On Wednesday July 11th the children travelled by train to Aylward School. It was a wonderful opportunity for the children to experience a live opera performance.
"We have been learning about a play which is an opera. We went to another school to watch a performance of the opera; Maria Struarda; it was all in Italian. We had no idea what they were saying, but we understood the story because we had learnt it in class.
Some singing voices were very low and some were very high. Elizabeth's voice was so high I thought that she would break the glass!
At the end of the performance we were able to ask the performers for their autographs."
