On Wednesday, the Year 6 Football Team took part in Barnet FC’s Leavers Tournament at The Hive. We were extremely excited to play again but also slightly upset as it was our last time representing St John Fisher. We started the first game against Orion extremely well and won 3-0 with goals from Loucas and Joe. We went into the second game against Stag Lane full of confidence and had another convincing 3-0 victory with goals from Loucas, Dylan and Ronan Ca. We ended the group stages with another excellent 3-0 win against St Joseph’s with goals from Loucas and Dylan D (2). As we topped our group, we made it through to the semi-finals where we faced Goldbeaters; we were feeling confident and knew what we had to do to win the game. We started strong and Dylan scored 2 early goals and Loucas got a third, sealing our place in the final. However Goldbeaters managed to get a goal back and the game finished 3-1. The final was against St Joseph’s and nerves were running high. We dominated the final and Ronan Ca scored an amazing volley to put us 1-0 up, however St Joseph’s scored late on in the game which meant the final was going to be decided on penalties. Unfortunately, we lost the penalty shoot-out 4-3. We were all gutted initially but soon realised we had so much to be proud of as we scored 13 goals and only conceded 2 on our way to the final – well done to Aaron K for keeping 3 clean sheets! Well done to: Dylan D, Ronan Ca, Joe, Loucas, Aaron K, Max, Ronan Cu and Jayden and a big thank you to Daniel, James and Michael who coached us. A special well done to Dylan D who was selected as Player of the Tournament for his excellent work rate, attitude and important goals! Thank you to Mr Betts for driving the minibus and to all of the parents who came to watch, we really appreciate it. Thank you to Miss Lucas, Mr O’Brien, Miss Betts and Mr Cabey for coaching us this year. We have all loved representing our school this year and hope we get to play for our high school teams!
