As part of our PSHCE curriculum the children have been learning about rights and responsibilities. During the week all of the children have been looking at some of Unicef's 42 Articles that promote rights for all children. They have thought about how children around the world may not be given the same opportunities and how we all have the responsibility to respect the rights of others.
To complete our celebration of Rights Respecting Week parents were invited to a coffee morning and joined the whole school in the playground to launch forty two blue balloons. Children and staff wore blue to celebrate the Rights Respecting School initiative.
Each of the balloons carried one of the articles and our school address - we hope to find out how far they travelled!
Many thanks to Mrs Montgomierie and our Rights Respecting School Ambassadors for arranging such an inspiring event and for all the staff who have planned such interesting and thought provoking lessons. It was wonderful to see so many parents at these events supporting this worthy initiative.
