On Thursday 14th December, a group of Year Six boys took part in the EFL Kids Cup tournament. They were drawn in a tough group but after two wins against Roxeth and Weald Rise and two tough fought draws against St George’s and St Teresa’s, they finished second in the group and qualified for the quarter finals. The quarter final match was against Pinner Park, who we beat 1-0, which then set up a semi-final against St Mary’s (Hendon). Before kick-off, we found out we were the only Harrow school left in the tournament, which was a great achievement. It was a close match but unfortunately we lost 3-2 and St Mary’s went on to win the tournament on penalties. The team played brilliantly in every game and showed great teamwork and skill. Well done to all of the boys that took part: Cian McGrath-Brown, Alex Wilson, Pierce Long, Joseph Evans, Harry Perkins, Verrell George, Morgan Ducran and Alex Hipwell. A special well done to Verrell who scored 7 goals during the tournament, Harry who scored an amazing free-kick and Cian who kept 3 clean sheets. Thank you to the parents who came to support the team, Mr O’Brien and Mr Kelly for coaching the team and Mr Betts for driving the mini bus. We now look forward to our first league game in January.
